I am Anil Gurung, a former Nepal International Footballer currently residing in Kathmandu. From a young age, football has been my driving force, propelling me to excel both domestically and internationally.Starting at Sahara Club, Pokhara, I had earned trials with renowned teams like the Chelsea FC reserve and Working F.C in England. Though I didn't secure a contract, returning home was a testament to my potential.In the domestic league, I left my mark with notable clubs such as Brigade Club, Three Star Club, New Road Team, and Manang Marshyangdi Club. Notably, I topped the scoring charts in the 2006 and 2007 Martyrs Memorial ‘A’ Division League, garnering recognition and respect. I scored 32 goals in Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League 2009, which is one of the highest goal scored in any top-tier league in Nepal so far. For this achievement I was awarded with a Yamaha motorcycle. Representing Nepal on the international stage was an immense honor. Over 50 caps and 10 goals later, I made history as the first Nepalese player to score a goal in a World Cup qualifying match on home soil. Retiring from national duty in 2017, I left behind a legacy of leadership and skill. Under my captaincy, Nepal won the inaugural edition of AFC Solidarity Cup in 2016 at Malaysia. I was honored with the NCELL Player of the Year back in 2013, where I was awarded with Hyundai EON car. In conclusion, my journey underscores the significance of perseverance and passion in achieving success in the football world.
