Well, back to Mumbai after close to 3 years in Pune. A new business to learn. The company is engaged in genetically modified seeds selling, R & D (on seeds) & many other activities including CSR. The present turnover of the group is around US $ 250m (INR 1500 Crores). The company operations are now spreading outside India as well. So I am now creating a new Information Technology (IT) to manage the domestic business growth and international markets.

It's been close to 2 years with Thermax the giants in Engineering & EPC business with a global turn over of US $ 1.2 billion (INR 6200 Crores). But in this short duration I have managed to change the face of IT in the company. It started with Building the morale of all IT team members which was at its lowest ebb. This is then followed up with series of new initiatives such as building a robust network for data and video communication, consolidation of infrastructure including DR site implementation & refocussing on process that derailed the earlier ERP implementation. Eventually the ERP (Oracle Ebiz) is now functional in the company as it should be, giving its true value to the organisation. The BI solution deployed started generating the much needed dash boards for the top Management. The 4 seater Call Centre ensured customer closeness with all calls & emails being tracked till they are closed with firm actions. Finally the master piece of rolling out the VIRTUAL DESKTOP across the organisation made it a true International company.All these initiatives have given Thermax a technological edge. While the communication costs came down the dependency on ERP improved leaps and bound. The infrastructure consolidation not only saved the cost but helped the company in its green initiative. The manageability also improved as even with less number of staff IT is now able to manage & provide a larger business support. Finally the VIRTUAL DESKTOP Project is a real clincher as it is one of quickest implementation with slew of benefits including lower power bills & making organisation ready for BYOD. Currently 1000+ users are LIVE on this platform across the world.

I have just moved to this company and is primarily responsible for finalising and implementing the ERP solution for this mamoth organisation (18000 employees). SAP is now the chosen solution as the ERP product for the company. The HRMS module of SAP will practically involve every employee of the company.

For a SME segment company IT has lead the way business is now done in the company. The company now boasts of fine network across the country. The network not only allows data transfer but also allows voice and video. To top it up an ERP application like Oracle Financials has been rolled out across all the business units. I have also rolled out the CRM software for the company resulting 360 degree review of the customer. This software was launched undee SaaS model resulting in lot of cost savings.All these IT initiatives have helped company to maintain a healthy "teeth to tail" ratio of employees.

Changed the IT in the company. With implementation like SAP (first in India) and and e-mail system (very few people knew about it in 90's) changed the face of the company to the outside world. Technology started helping / leading the business for fruitful results.Implemneted the VSAT based WAN in the company in 1994. This & SAP implementation was a terrific achievement as company was just galloping into a big league and needed a technological excellence to suge ahead.
