About Anil Patni

Anil Patni is a public policy, corporate affairs, development and communications professional with 35+ years of work experience gained in India’s top companies/ MNCs (Tata BP Solar, Bharti Walmart), India’s largest PR agency (Adfactors PR), leading newspapers (The Times of India, Rajasthan Patrika), most important foreign diplomatic missions (British High Commission, USIS - American Embassy, Delegation of the European Commission), and international development agencies (DAI Europe, AETS France, B&S Europe/Gopa PACE and Particip GmbH). Anil worked as the Team Leader (Sept 2017- Feb 2022) for the “EU Public Diplomacy in India” project where he was driving the EU’s engagement with the Indian media, academia, think tanks, civil society and business community through public diplomacy, communication and outreach initiatives. He is currently engaged with EU-funded projects related to public diplomacy and policy dialogue in Nepal. Anil Patni headed the Public Affairs practice at Adfactors PR where he worked as Vice President. Anil Patni worked with Bharti Walmart as GM - Corporate Affairs and led the Government Relations, Public Relations, CSR and Sustainability efforts of the company and supported its partner Bharti Retail Ltd (2011-13). He worked closely on policy issues relating to opening of FDI into multi-brand retail and on operational issues with State govts in 6 Indian states. At Tata BP Solar (2008-11) Anil headed the Corporate Communications, External Relations and Energy Security function where he was instrumental in popularising solar energy in India.During his term as Media Adviser at European Commission Delegation (1994-2008), Anil played key role in strengthening EU-India ties through publicising development and economic cooperation programs, driving media relations. He was the editor of official newsletter EU-INDIA UPDATE /Anil started his career as a City Reporter with Rajasthan Patrika in Ajmer. Was Sub-Editor with The Times of India, Jaipur (1987-90) and Asst Editor at British High Commission New Delhi (1990-94), Senior Program Manager at the US Information Service (USIS), American Embassy, New Delhi. Anil studied at Mayo College Ajmer on a Govt of India scholarship (1978-84) and has done MA (Philosophy) from the Univ of Rajasthan (1987-90), MBA from FMS, Delhi University (1996-99), LLB from CCS Univ (2020-23) and . Usually figured among toppers of the class/batch and was the Best Debater through school and college.
