Part of the Project PAVITRA Team. The project is a collaboration between IIT Bombay, CSTEP, UC Berkeley and University of Washington, USA. Working on generating data for a reduced complexity model that will help decision makers make more smart decisions and define more refined policies to mitigate the consequences of air pollution in India. This model will also help to study the impacts of air pollution on population and mortality rate on an annual scale.

Used the Indian Meteorological Department daily temperature dataset to calculate the trends in cold waves on the basis of ECF (Excess Cold Index) over India. Also, compared the historical runs of CMIP6 models with actual observations from IMD to understand how well the current generation of climate model simulations are able to capture extreme weather events.

Comparison on trends and variability in frequency, total duration and maximum duration of heatwaves on the basis of Robinson (2001), Nairn et al. (2009) and Mazdiyasni et al. (2017) methodologies over India.

Reviewed different heat wave calculation methodologies and inferred which of the ones are more appropriate for determining heatwave conditions over India.
