BiographyDr. Anis Semlali is an Associate Professor in the department of architecture at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK). Dr. Anis obtained his Ph.D and M.Sc. A. degree in Planning with a focus on technological innovations from the University of Montreal, Canada in 2010. Dr. Anis started his academic career in 2002 as a lecturer at the architectural department in the University of Montreal. In 2010, he joined the High School of Sciences and Technologies of Design in Tunis as an assistant professor then he was elected as a dean for 4 years starting from 2014. In 2018, he joined the Gulf University as an associate professor in the engineering department. Dr. Anis tries to approach design and architecture education in a global way by encouraging students to assume the complexity of the field at technical, social, historical and psychological levels. His teaching practice has always been fueled by a need to innovate and develop teaching methods at a level that allows students to better assimilate the content of courses (sometimes too theoretical for them) and to generate a reflexive dynamic that can lead them to a better reflexive and spatial production. It is through the different forms and pretexts of teaching that Dr. Anis had the privilege of participating in forging a creative, innovative spirit among students, aware of the challenges and responsibilities that come to him as an Architects/designer. Dr Anis is an active member of Arab Society for Computer Aided Architectural Design and the Computer Aided Design Research Group where he has participated in several research projects.Education:Dr. Anis Semlali received his Ph.D. in Planning (Technological and IT Innovations) from the University of Montreal, CANADA in March 2010. In 2002, he received his Ms.C.A in planning (Computer Aided Design, Modeling and Manufacturing) from the University of Montreal. In 1998, Dr. Anis received his Bachelor’s degree in science and applied Arts (Interior Design) from theHigher Institute of Fine Arts in Tunis.ResearchDr. Anis Semlali’s research interest aims to explore new ways to better support the reasoning of actors (whether designers, archaeologists, architects or others) through a multidisciplinary approach that tends to consider complexities and processes rather than their results. He tries to combine the knowledge related to digital media with that of various design disciplines. He published 3 books and several articles.
