Masters Program course : Engineering Metrology – Applications and InterpretationThis special topics course will bridge the gap between design, manufacturing, and verification of manufactured products by gaining a deeper understanding of metrology principles and applications. Students will enhance their knowledge about metrological traceability to ensure valid measured results along with activities to evaluate measurement uncertainty. Measurement technologies with hardware and software solutions for the practical user and proper use of measurement system specifications will be discussed at length. This along with application of metrology standards to each device and technology will prepare the student to create solutions to measurement challenges within their work environment. Topics such as GD&T, Surface Texture, and TAR versus TUR will be covered. Students will have the opportunity to visit a metrology lab at a precision manufacturing company as well as tour a metrology equipment manufacturing company. Several sessions will have guest lectures from industry experts in Virtual or In-person format.
