I am Managing Director of MDA UK, responsible for all UK business: leading the delivery of mission-critical programmes, building customer relationships and developing and scaling the business. Prior to working at MDA UK I held a number of leadership roles at Surrey Satellite Technology Limited and KISPE Space Systems Limited.Follow me on Twitter at @AnitaBernie.I am also a member of the Board of Directors at nanosatellite pioneers AAC Clyde Space, which provides Space Data As A Service, Missions, Products and Components to worldwide customers.I am proud to have been appointed as an Honorary Group Captain in Royal Air Force 601 Squadron, providing insights on Space matters to RAF and MOD personnel.I am a Trustee of The Air League, the UK's leading Aerospace charity, which changes young peoples' lives by providing scholarships and flight experience opportunities; I was also a Board Member of the Institute of Directors.I possess an Aerospace Engineering Degree and an MBA and my papers and presentations have been published in the annual proceedings of many space conferences such as the AIAA International Astronautics Congress, AIAA/USU Conference on Small Satellites, Space Foundation Space Symposium, IEEE Aerospace Conference and the European Space Agency.Prior to joining KISPE I held a number of roles at Surrey Satellite Technology Limited:* Director of Exploration Missions: Responsible for the strategy and implementation of commercial services to enable the development of sustainable activities at the moon and Mars, including the establishment of partnership agreements with the European Space Agency, Goonhilly Earth Services and Astrobotic to deliver commercial lunar services.* Director of Platforms, Demonstration missions and US: Leading the development and delivery of systems and capabilities for spacecraft ranging from 5kg to 3,000kg to address operational and demonstration missions for communications, Earth observation, space situational awareness and in-orbit servicing applications in LEO, MEO and GEO.* At SST-US, SSTL’s USA subsidiary: Securing contracts with NASA, USAF Space and Missile Systems Center and the US General Services Administration.I am active in STEM and Mentoring outreach activities for schoolchildren as young as 4 years of age through to undergraduates and early careers candidates, including events with organisations such as the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Science Museum.
