About Anita Kim
For 15 years, I studied the American lobster, Homarus americanus. I managed a laboratory shared by several principal investigators and was the Chemical Hygiene Officer for the laboratory. My research experience has included developmental biology, molecular biology, ecology, and physiology. I have experience in molecular and microbial techniques, and have cared for a variety of marine invertebrates and vertebrates as well as zebrafish and reptiles. As lab manager, I oversaw the demolition of a laboratory and the construction of a new lab, purchased and maintained laboratory equipment, and created safety protocols for a pass-through lab. I have experience managing and supervising a diverse staff and performing administrative duties. My career interests vary from researcher (research assistant/technician level or higher), lab manager, animal care, administrative, education, and facilities-related positions. Pre-pandemic, I also worked part-time as a yoga instructor and a MA licensed massage therapist. I taught regular classes at Be. In Union Yoga in Somerville, MA, and I offered massage therapy sessions through my own business, Heart to Heal. In these uncertain times, I am teaching yoga virtually but have decided to keep my massage practice closed for the time being.
