I’m a research scientist exploring viral vector cancer therapies and optogenetic control of cellular signaling cascades in human cell culture at the Leibniz Institute for New Materials in Saarbrücken. Already during my studies of biology, I was enthusiastic about the potential of translating scientific research into practical applications for addressing medical challenges. I am now pursuing this passion further in the context of my PhD in the program area of material orientated synthetic biology, a research group utilizing the cells natural signal processing machinery to precisely control cellular and material function. Here, I apply my expertise in a wide range of molecular biological and biochemical methods within the laboratory, as well as the planning of projects, the analysis and interpretation of data and the establishment of new methods.
