About Anjie Vichayanonda แอนจี้ วิชยานนท์

Anjie Vichayanonda แอนจี้ วิชยานนท์ is a DEI Advocate | Trademark & Copyright Attorney | Diversifying the legal industry by mentoring underrepresented & first-gen law students and prelaw students at Griffith Barbee PLLC. She is proficient in Thai. Colleagues describe her as "Meeting Anjie and interning for Leg Up Legal has been so impactful for me as a student thinking about law school. Anjie is overflowing with passion for her mission of helping students navigate their legal career dreams, and working with her has taught me a lot about connecting with others, building relationships, and contributing to the community. After a year of amazing work and conversation with her, I feel much more prepared to dive into my undergrad years with a better mindset, focus, and perspective of what I want for myself in a legal career. On top of that introspection Anjie inspired, I have also learned so many substantive skills through my internship, and Anjie has been so patient and supportive with teaching me and encouraging me to try new experiences. I have had the opportunity to communicate with hundreds of lawyers and students, organize so many insightful events, and contribute to the inner workings of a phenomenal mentorship program. I’m excited to keep in touch with an incredible mentor and cheerleader, and I can’t wait to see all the exciting developments the future holds for us!", "I met Anjie before starting Law School during the Leg Up Legal Bootcamp and quickly noticed how passionate she was about helping law students. Anjie and I remained in touch and she has become my go-to mentor for anything law-school related. Anjie is incredibly knowledgeable in so many different areas from job searching and networking, to how to succeed as a student, legal writing, law school classes, etc. To this day, I am so thankful to have found a mentor like her because she selflessly gives her time and effort to her students so that she can see them succeed. An example of a time when Anjie has helped me succeed was when I was offered an interview for a summer associate position. When I told Anjie I got an interview for the summer associate position, Anjie immediately offered to get on a Zoom call with me to practice my interviewing skills. She gave me advice that I had not thought about before and helped shape my answers into specific anecdotes based on my own experiences. I learned how to bring in my multiple experiences and skillfully craft them into my answers. As always, after every mentoring session, Anjie made me feel calm and confident. I felt super prepared going into my interview and landed a summer associate position at a DREAM firm. I could not have done it without Anjie and I am thankful to have a mentor that is so caring, passionate, and selfless.", and "Anjie has been an excellent mentor for me throughout law school, and it was truly a blessing that I was able to connect with her. She has assisted me in refining my networking and interviewing skills, while also guiding me through the job search process. Her knowledge and expertise has helped me secure multiple callback interviews, and has also helped me develop the skills to connect with many attorneys in my area."

    #Networked Book Nov 2020 - Jan 2023
I co-authored this book with 19 amazing women lawyers who have been part of a larger group of 50 women lawyers that created a networking group on LinkedIn. During the days of the pandemic, we've laughed together, cried together, shared in losses and successes, cheered each other on while we juggled practicing law, parenting, relationships, launching new companies, building online courses, side-hustles, podcasts, writing a book (lol!), and so much more. We self-published this book to share our stories about handling the early days of the pandemic and we hope that it will show others that you can find a community of support even in the darkest of times. Thank you LinkedIn for this platform and thank you to Amazon for making self-publishing so feasible. And thank you to all of my co-authors for dreaming up this beautiful project and bringing it to life through sheer force of will and determination. #Networked: How 20 Women Lawyers Overcame the Confines of COVID-19 Social Distancing to Create Connections, Cultivate Community, & Build Businesses in the Midst of a Global PandemicAvailable on Amazon in Kindle and Paperback versionsKindle: $3.69Paperback: $13.95By: Patricia Baxter, Shari Belitz, Veronica Canton, Talar Herculian Coursey, Deb Feder, Natalie Elisha Gold, Laura Gregory, Christon Halkiotis, Jacqueline Harounian, Meghan Henry, Lisa Lang, Olga V. • Leg Up Legal
Podcast Host 🎙 | The Law Lives Project Podcast
Leg Up Legal Sep 2020 - Jan 2023
I host a podcast called The Law Lives Project, which sheds light on the early career steps of real lawyers. Many of us lawyers didn't have it all figured out from the start. It takes time to find your way in your legal profession. This podcast sheds light on some of the challenges that lawyers face in the earliest part of building their careers. Each week, we sit down with members of the legal profession, to chat about the paths they took to get where they are now, including the times they stumbled, the times they fell, and the times they needed a little help. To encourage candor, the attorney guests remain nameless, but their stories are laid bare for your consideration. From time to time, I invite prospective and current law students to join the show as a guest host so that they can practice their interviewing skills and connect with lawyers.
  • Leg Up Legal
Ceo / Founder / Mentor / Career Coach For Prospective & Current Law Students
Leg Up Legal Oct 2018 - Jan 2023
Leg Up Legal provides an online mentoring community and mobile app that connects prospective law students, including college students and working professionals, to attorney mentors. I founded Leg Up Legal to help people learn more about the legal profession before investing significant time and money into law school and building a legal career. Over my first five years of practice, I mentored and connected with over 30 law students and prelaw students who struggled with starting their legal careers. Many had the same fundamental questions: ▪️What is the practice of law actually like?▪️How do I learn more about specialty practice areas?▪️How do I choose which law school is right for me?▪️How do I connect with attorneys who can mentor me, share their experiences with me, and help guide me?I realized that there was a huge demand for people who want to learn more about the legal profession, but there was no easy way for people to tap into the real-world experiences of attorneys and get meaningful access to mentorship. Throughout my years of practice, I've connected with many attorneys who want to mentor the next generation of lawyers and help leave a path of opportunity for them, but many of them were limited on time and they didn't have a way to easily connect with potential mentees and identify ways to help them. So, I created the Leg Up Legal mentoring community to bridge these gaps.As a mentor, I also help my mentees with:▪️Career coaching▪️Resume and cover letter design and editing▪️Mock Interviews▪️Learning about industry legal trends such as diversity and inclusion strategies▪️Networking and developing long-lasting professional relationships▪️Building their social media presence▪️Developing the soft skills necessary to be a successful lawyer (e.g. negotiation, timekeeping, building resilience, organization, time management, leadership, networking)

Vlcbc - Virtual Legal Career Boot Camp Jul 2020 - Jul 2020
Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, I had an idea to bring together some of the amazing lawyers, judges, legal industry leaders, law school faculty and staff, and law students who I had been interacting with on LinkedIn to launch a free virtual event for incoming law students. The goal of the event was to launch a movement in the legal profession to address the ways that Covid-19 has impacted the profession and better prepare incoming and current law students to face these challenges. I banded together a team of 11 interns and together we organized 2 full weeks of programming with over 60 sessions, including substantive career development sessions, career panels, and interactive networking sessions. We pulled together over 90 speakers, panelists, and moderators, including lawyers, judges, career coaches, recruiters, life coaches, law school staff and faculty, and current law students. We coordinated a full 3-week social media campaign, email marketing campaign, press and media outreach, outreach to law schools and prelaw advisors, and prepared a social media swipe file to help attendees, speakers, panelists and moderators discuss their experiences during the event. Our promotional efforts resulted in over 700 registrations for our event, including students from over 90 different law schools. We also prepared a robust Slack workspace to allow all of the attendees, speakers, panelists, and moderators to connect, interact, share resources, set up virtual coffee meetings, form mentoring groups, and more. I served as the MC for the entire event and simultaneously ran the behind the scenes team via Zoom for 10-full days. I also prepared a daily email schedule and email newsletter recapping each day of the event.All-in-all the event has been a huge success and I look forward to seeing everything that the VLCBC community will accomplish in the future.
