About Anke Bergner
I went to Hyper Island to find my own way of being a good creative and designer, to find inspiration. But it gave me something different. It was all about personal development and group development. And it gave me the important skill of self-reflection and learning from mistakes. So it is not about ‘not knowing something’. It is about ‘not being afraid of not knowing something’. It is about being fearless to throw yourself out there and to take the challenge on. So in the end it comes down to ‘not being afraid to fail’. Because failing is a very good opportunity to learn. And I think it makes me the strong person I am. I do not fear a challenge. I see it as a chance for personal and professional development. During the last year here in London I finally realised what I am really good at. I am a ‘Problem Solver’. I do observe my environment carefully every day and whenever I see potential to make something better, I come up with new ways to solve it. I took it for granted for a long time because I always felt that way and thought it is normal. Being German probably means that the desire for efficiency is in the genes ;) I hear that a lot from others...However, I realised it can be a gift as well as a pain. Not everyone is open for feedback, critics and change that might come with spotting a problem. But I decided for myself to see it as a gift that not many people have. It’s probably just about finding the right place to fully embrace it...Specialties: Digital Art Direction, Problem Solving, Mobile & Facebook apps, iPhone, Android, Blackberry, iPad, Social Media, Innovation, User Experience, Branding and Identity, Design, Web Design, Understanding Group and Leadership (UGL), Team Leading, Mentoring, HTML, CSS
Listed skills include User Experience, Social Media, Css, Web Design, and 15 others.

Digital Design Lead
Head Of Digital Design
As part of a design improvement programme, iris sought to combine offline design, artwork and digital design. I was given the role of Head of Digital Design to run the digital department and lead a team of 8 digital designers of all levels. I worked in partnership with the Head of Design and Head of Artwork to create and implement an integrated design studio, known as “OneStudio” and ensure that our main focus is the development of integrated solutions for the wider strategic goals of the agency.
Senior Creative
As Senior Creative I lead a team of designers to deliver services to a wide range of clients that included Sony Global, Volkswagen UK, Durex and Fudge. In this role my key challenges were to fully understand the clients needs, cater for all digital advertising channels and getting the right balance between conceptional creative and hands on design. I was able to use my previous knowledge and experience from LBi as a fully digital and rather webdesign led agency to good effect and support many successful pitches to these and other iris clients.
Interactive/Digital Art Director
Work at LBi has involved leading art direction across numerous projects with well-known clients such as BT, e.ON, RBS and the Premier League. I've also had the chance to dive deep into User Experience, working with colleagues in one of the largest UX departments in Europe. Blending departments is one of the top priorities within projects, so I have gained a lot of experience of the UX world. My latest projects involved the creation of apps for mobile devices. Creating apps that achieve a consistent feel and experience across all smart phones and tablets is a challenge. However, I find the full end-to-end process from research, through creating user journeys and user testing, to the final product existing in the app store, to be quite exciting.
Creative Placement
Working in a full service advertising agency I had the chance to get insights from the world of traditional advertising. Seeing the whole picture, finding an idea that works in every channel - both offline and online. I was given the responsibly of working independently to create and develop digital concepts.

Interactive Art Director
As Interactive Art Director I was the creative lead for 3 key accounts and I also mentored one design trainee and two design producers. Together with a copy partner I created ideas for various online campaigns. My biggest project was an interactive, real-time treasure hunt, where travel agents could send their hero, Marco, around the world. The mainly female agents got so excited about Marco that they actually contacted him almost daily via email. The overall number of participants were 3 times higher than our expectations.
