In this studying the distribution model used in Cement, Steel, Paint and Plywood industries both at Indian & Global Level, find out their best practices & accordingly suggest a suitable distribution model for AIG. Findings : Cement is mainly transferred in bulk at the global level but in bags of 50 kg in India. Steel Service centres are widely used both at the Indian and the global level. Paint is mostly sold to the DIY customers at the global level but in India mostly sold through the regional distribution centres and the distribution centres. Network of dealers, distributors, wholesalers and retailers is very important for these kinds of industries. Also major use of large tonner Volvo's is commonly used at the global level but not in India.Recommendations : Asahi India Glass should set up the distribution centres at 7 locations across India in order to serve smaller retailers. Larger customers should be serving directly. Glass should be transferred in bulk through 40 tonner Volvos. This will reduce the packaging cost from 5% to 2% and the freight cost from 8% to 4.5%.
