Responsibilities:- Chief Architect for Walgreens and Boots Digital Health Services Platform and part of its Senior Leadership Team, helping define Product and Platform Strategy.- Chief Architect for Walgreens and Boots mobile apps.- Manage Architecture teams – Hiring, one-on-ones, reviews, mentoring, setting up best practices.- Work with Product, User Experience and Engineering leaders to define product strategy focused on user experience, while still meeting business needs.- Provide architecture strategy and leadership: build vs buy vs acquire decisions, adopting cloud architecture, security standards, disaster recovery strategy, highly scalable and performant design, etc.- Introduce Innovative solutions and experiences: Health Bot, Health Passport, FHIR, Mobile Checkout at stores, modular and polyglot mobile architecture, scalable event-based architecture, etc.- Help with roadmap planning, resource planning and high level estimates.- Mentoring architects and developers on best design and coding practices.

As a Principal Architect, I provide technical leadership across multiple projects, spanning multiple functional areas. On projects, I’m responsible for interfacing with client executives and managers, helping plan product development, from ideation to execution, providing technical direction, creating proof of concepts, being hands-on, holding reviews, mentoring the team and providing senior leadership. Off projects, I am part of NVISIA’s Senior Leadership Team and Technology Advisory Council, and managing/leading the architecture team.

HESI (Angular, Mico-Services, PostgreSQL, Docker)HESI product provides exams and targeted remediation content to prepare student nurses for professional licensure, and predict their likely success in tests such as NCLEX. The aim of the project was to create a next-generation product that would allow students to take the exam securely via a remote proctor, and provide them targeted remediation to help them prepare and pass their NCLEX exam. In addition, we created a proprietary recommendation engine that provided the ability for students to take a personalized quiz based on topics they are weak in.I worked with the stakeholders to help define the product vision during Ideation and Elaboration phases, and was responsible for leading the project from a technical perspective, defining and designing application architecture. During execution, in addition to providing technical leadership, my focus area was integrating content in the new HESI application, from different Elsevier products, to enable students to take a secure exam and receive targeted remediation, based on how they did in the exam.

Content 2.0 (React, Backbone, Micro-Services, Graph DB)Elsevier as a company publishes educational content for higher education. The aim of Content 2.0 project was to create a web application that could singularly be used for book production, from signing the contract to sending it to the printers, with features like a structured web authoring tool, task and workflow management, author recommendation, content recommendation, instead of using many different applications.I was responsible for leading the project from a technical perspective, creating POCs, defining application architecture and leading the development team during the Ideation and Elaboration Phases of the project. I worked with the stakeholders to help define the product vision, defined the application architecture, and helped create multiple execution plans to fit different cost models.

Sherpath (Angular, Micro-Services, PostgreSQL, Docker)Elsevier as a company publishes educational content for higher education. The aim of this project was to create an online tool for both students and instructors to help optimize their learning experience.I was responsible for leading the content team from a technical perspective as well as mentoring the development team and providing project leadership across multiple project efforts. As part of my responsibilities, I architected and led product development of content authoring products, defined content specifications for EOLS products, was the technical liaison to the content creation team, and architected integration of content within the app. I was also responsible for leading, from a technical perspective, on different aspects such Virtual Simulations (in Unity), service patterns and integrations, content storage and delivery tools, etc.

Project: Pixelate!An iPhone App to assist people in painting their house. This application helps users pick colors, from the included color matrix, and then helps them visualize their room painted with the color of their choice.To do so, they take a photo of their room with the iPhone camera. Then, they select the color they want to paint their wall by picking a color from the color matrix, a photograph on their phone or by picking a color using their iPhone camera. Financial Datamart (Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS)The goal of Financial Datamart was to provide accurate and timely financial reports to the business.I was involved in architecting, designing and implementing the solution, along with mentoring junior developers on best practices. I was responsible for data modeling, designing, implementing and performance tuning the ETL process. In addition, I worked with the testing teams and business in helping extract reports out of the Financial Datamart and testing them for accuracy.

Application Modernization (REST, NoSQL, Spring, Quartz Scheduler)Accuity is a leader in providing Financial Information to international institutions. This project involved merging data from multiple relational databases into 1 common format (XML). In addition, a new Web Application was created to help make the information be securely available to clients.I was responsible for providing technical guidance on different aspects of the project. My primary focus was designing and implementing a multi-threaded data processor/loader that picked up changes in data from different relational data sources, and updated the new NoSQL database using REST services. I was also responsible for helping performance-tune the applications for high-availability and high load.

Blue Access for Members (Websphere Portal, Spring, dojo, DB2)BAM is a member’s portal to access their policy information, claims information, find providers, etc. The aim of the project was to redesign the application visually and re-architect some of the back-end technologies.My role on this project was to provide architectural leadership through different phases of the project, manage integrations with multiple teams, help create proof of concepts, identify technologies that needed to be re-architected, and provide recommendations with possible solutions. I was also involved in helping plan the project, providing estimates, working with business team on requirements and high-level solutions, managing tasks on the project and leading a team of 10 people

Enterprise Services (Spring/Hibernate/CXF/iLog/ActiveMQ)Architected and designed multiple enterprise services including Rating Service, a service that calculates an insurance rate for prospective & existing members; Enrollment Service, a service to enroll approved applicants into membership system; Correspondence Service, a service to send different correspondences to members. In addition, I was responsible for working with business team on requirements, managing cross-teams dependencies, managing the project, its resources and its deliveryIUCT (Spring 2.5/Spring MVC/ DB2)The aim of this project was to reduce the time taken by underwriters to make a decision on an application from 1 month to 1 day. It involved re-writing the existing application using Web 2.0 technologies. I was responsible for designing and architecting services that interfaced with the legacy database to provide data to different modernized applications along with syncing data between legacy database and the new DB2 database

Project: OneiPhone Client (Objective-C, Cocoa Touch): The aim of this project was to develop a social networking application which would provide users location based information related to their interests, like people, events/activities, products. I was responsible for designing, developing, testing the application with a team of 3 developers.Marketing: I worked with a team of 5 people to come up with different strategies to market the application to different demographic.

Modernization (.NET 2.0/Java Web 2.0 Technologies)Prototyped the MagnaX modernization using Web 2.0 Frameworks like Spring, Hibernate, XFire (for exposing as Web Service), Acegi and WSS4J (for Web Service Security) and .NET (for the interface between PowerBuilder and the converted Java Web Services). I was involved in researching the frameworks to be used and developing and testing of the web services, as well as enhancing the existing C++ interface between PowerBuilder and MagnaX to connect with Web Services

Great Roads Explorer (JSP/JavaScript/CSS)Designed and developed a Web 2.0 map portal that searches for map content and road routes based on user-selected map views and displays the results as map pushpins, road route highlights on the map, paged lists of the map information and detailed views of the map entities using technologies like Microsoft Virtual Earth, AJAX, Prototype, Microsoft MapCruncher and SQL Server.

Project: Private Radio Networks (Trunking Controller Products)Zone Controller (C/C++): Worked on mission critical, two-way radio systems. Zone Controller is responsible for call processing, resource management and maintaining talk-groups. I participated in the design process, wrote code, test cases and participated in reviews of requirements, design and source codeAuto Code Generator (Perl/XML/C): Created Perl scripts that parse information from SNMP mibs and generate an XML file (and vise-versa) and then used the XML's to create C-code (source and test) that worked with SNMP Agents

Project: Location Awareness Image DatabaseData Acquisition (Python): Created Scripts to upload all images present in a directory into the SQL database, storing their feature vectors, the GPS coordinates of where the images were taken from, its altitude, etc. and finally creating a thumbnail of that imageServer Scripts (Python): The script compares the image received by the server from the client with images in the database and return the thumbnail of the closest match screening the images with the GPS coordinates and then by the feature vectors
