I am a financial analyst and budding entrepreneur, who loves helping firms explore foreign markets, as much as I love doing the same myself through my travelling escapades! In fact, I derived my first learning opportunity, out of my first foreign trip, to Costa Rica! I had been learning Spanish then, and had become competent enough to order pizza in a restaurant. Also, upon realizing that I needed more cheese, I was easily able to ask the maître d'hôtel, "can I have some cheese?" However, I made the mistake of confusing "queso", or cheese in Spanish, with "beso", which means "kiss", garnering laughter from all around, but the incident in question inculcated in me a desire to help others trying to navigate international waters, leaving me with a future path to pursue...I ended up completing my Master's education in International Business Management at The University of Manchester in the UK, during which I learned how vital it was to “localize” a product to consumers’ tastes within the foreign market to be penetrated. Thus, I analyzed a case study titled "Microsoft in China" as part of the "Internationalization Strategies" module and have continued to deploy the knowledge gained from the exercise, in leading the business development efforts of a firm I have established in collaboration with my friends, thereby generating transactions worth $100K collectively, in China and Vietnam. I also acquired skills in localizing the financial management, controlling, treasury, audit and corporate finance related tasks of global firms to their surroundings as part of the “Business Finance" module, which I ended up utilizing, to help Dell Technologies’ asset recovery business, expand its operations from within 5 to 12 countries, while being based in Panama in Latin America.However, by helping other entities localize and succeed in foreign markets, I eventually learned that a firm's most crucial competitive advantage-garnering product is not just a good for sale localized to its surroundings, but also its localized people, as throughout my career, I have comfortably been able to collaborate with and cater to global stakeholders, just like products I have handled in the past, driving value at every turn, owing to my fluency in English, Hindi, Spanish and Portuguese.
