About Ann Al-Jazrawi

Working on National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) contracts has given me the unique experience of what it takes to operate our fleet of satellites that study our Earth and beyond.I started at NASA working for a contractor on the LANDSAT 4/5 operations team where I had the opportunity to learn what is needed to operate our Earth Resources satellites. Once I finished my Computer Science B.S., I started working on creating the systems that operations teams use to run the satellites. I have experience in satellite command and control, generating stored command loads, and systems used to schedule contact with and events on a satellite. I have also worked on the systems that collect, categorize, store, and distribute the science data received from our Earth Sciences satellites. When working on just one component of a satellite ground system I am able to see the big picture and understand how it needs to work with the other systems.I have worked both on maintenance and new projects as a task lead and a developer. I have seen projects from inception to full system testing. I am proficient in communicating software designs with the current UML standards. The importance of full performance testing is crucial in such complex systems. These systems must communicate promptly and be able to move large data efficiently, maintain the data integrity, and minimize loss.
