Women Thriving, Inc. is a non-profit organization with a mission of “co-creating opportunities for women facing economic, social, and racial inequities to thrive through learning, leadership development, and community.” Since 2011, Thriving has provided multi-week, in-person workshop series, and, since Covid, has seamlessly moved to online Zoom learning opportunities. We offer programming in personal resiliency skills, parenting and self-care, English conversation and American culture for Asians/Asian-Americans and also for Latinas, nutrition and healthy cooking, fitness, arts, meditation, film-making, healthy relationships, gardening and growing healthy food, as well as free “Listening and Learning” dinners (before Covid) and a community garden. Many of our workshop series and activities are available in Spanish as well as English and engage a group of 30+ women in a community called “Latinas Unidas.” We recently began a collaboration with the Immigrant Family Services Institute in Mattapan, MA, teaching English conversation and American culture to recent Haitian women immigrants. Our Leadership Corps consists of three women (one Latina, one Portuguese, one Nepali) who have participated in extensive training/internship in leadership, technology tools, communications strategies, telling our personal stories, and facilitation of workshop series on Zoom. Products include an online community resource guide and safety resource materials against domestic violence, as well as written materials for many of our workshop series. The Brackett Group, a small consulting organization supporting educational and non-profit organizations and funders, provides program evaluation, facilitation of cross-organizational and cross-role groups, leadership development, professional development, and materials and process development.
