“Economic Indicators of Community Vulnerability and Resilience to Disasters”Total economic losses from natural and man-made disasters in 2017 are estimated to be USD 306 billion (SwissRe, 2017). Measures are often taken to reduce the negative impacts of such disasters; however, there is strong uncertainty around when disasters may occur for certain hazard types. Infrastructure within a community is a system of systems; if there is failure in one part, it is likely that the entire system will be disrupted. For this reason, community resilience planning should take place ahead of time; vulnerable structures should be properly reinforced against potential hazard events and social and economic dimensions of the community need to be recognized.Earthquakes are a specific type of disaster event that requires increased preparedness planning. "A major earthquake somewhere in California is virtually a certainty in the next 30 years, according to the U.S. Geological Survey." California is taking steps to prepare for the next earthquake, and the success of their efforts could inform seismic preparedness across the country. This project aims to advance research on the economics of community resilience generally, as well as the economics of seismic retrofit projects more specifically.

+Methodologies for Metal Plating Non-Conductive 3D Printed Objects I investigated 3 of the most popular and easily accessible methods of electroplating for my research. Electroplating is the most well known. This method uses electricity to complete both cathode (the part being plated) and anode (the metal) reactions in a solution. The second method, electroless plating, is unique due to the fact that it does not use an electric source. Instead, a chemical reaction takes place between the metallic solution and the part being plated. Lastly, brush plating is the most straightforward. Using a stylus, an absorbent material is wrapped around a carbon rod, which is connected to the positive side of the power supply with the negative pole of the power supply connected to the part. This research is to serve as another step in the mission to find an inexpensive, but efficient, way to electroplate any 3D printed model, regardless of material.

Fundingshield works closely with multiple banks in the NY area and beyond to allow for mortgage loans to be filled while avoiding fraud. As a result, I would reach out to the banks in order to gain access to the proper paperwork, including wire instructions and CPLs. Once received and uploaded into our system, I reviewed all of the documentation and information, in the hopes of approving it and passing it off to the banks for the loans to be filled.I currently work here part time due to me being a full time student.
