As a new teacher, I struggled to find top-notch classroom materials, supportive colleagues, and meaningful professional development. Once I gained these skills, it became my mission to provide other teachers with the resources they need to succeed.During my career, I have achieved transformational impact through three pillars:✍️ Curriculum Design: I create research-based, creative, and engaging ELA lessons in grades 9-12.— Developed creative writing curriculum resulting in 40+ published students.— Over 1600 classrooms now use that same creative writing curriculum. — Created 58 lesson plans and assessments for a major publisher for use in schools nationwide. 🤝 Professional Mentorship: I coach new and experienced teachers. — Advised 25+ teachers in writing across the curriculum, differentiation, and curriculum mapping as a school accreditation chair and department chair. — Supervised 14 student teachers with 100% graduation rate at Illinois State University. — Coached 40+ teachers as a consultant for the National Writing Project. 🧠 Professional Development: I facilitate PD sessions on teaching writing, differentiation, and more. — Presented at 16 conferences, workshops, and school districts to 1500+ educators.— Published 19 articles and lesson plans for websites such as ReadWriteThink and Teach Living Poets.
