A retired health professional from a nursing background, crossing hospital, school,community and specialist settings. Lived and worked abroad in the different parts of Africa, voluntary work for Red Cross. I have done some teaching(Human Biology) and some private nursing and child care in Florida (U.S.A.).Related to my nursing background, I have an interest in the very good work of Medecins Sans Frontieres. I will always have an active interest in the wellbeing of young people/adolescents and those with special educational needs. Building on my experiences and training to date I have self published a book "Help Me Understand A.D.H.D.". The book could also be read by members of the extended family and by an older child, such as an adolescent with the condition. In essence the book covers the impact on a child with A.D.H.D. on the parents and other siblings within the family. Among other aspects, there are suggestions for home and school management.I continue to do presentations to a range of organisations on the subject of A.D.H.D.+ S.E.N's. II have contributed to "Head Teacher" articles that help update head teachers ..With the presentations I cover: -A.D.H.D. myths.-Predisposing factors-The impact on an individual with undiagnosed A.D.H.D. and diagnosed A.D.H.D. and other S.E.N.-Medical Conditions that can mimic A.D.H.D. or run parallel.-Autism & Aspergers.-What is happening in the brain. -The different medications also alternatives to medication. -Addressing some comorbidities. I also touch on conflict resolution. - Some management suggestions.-Presenting a couple of case studies, helps with audience participation.The aim is to give a comprehensive overview of the condition/conditions.My Website:
