I have worked across sectors (public and private) and continents, am trained in three disciplines (public health, nursing, and midwifery), have served on multiple boards (hospitals, nonprofits, and institutes) and advised on health matters for organizations including the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Currently, I am president of the New York Academy of Medicine (NYAM) and serve as the first epidemiologist leader in NYAM's 177-year history. I also served as early-stage clinical advisor for Maven Inc., the first female-led $1B-valuation digital health company.Additional career highlights include:➣ Elected fellow of the National Academy of Medicine (NAM), the New York Academy of Medicine, the American Academy of Nursing (AAN), and the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM).➣ Served at multiple world-class universities in leadership and faculty roles 2003–2022: tenured faculty at University of Washington (2003–2008), including launch of Gates Foundation-funded new Department of Global Health, and part of executive team that launched NYU’s College of Global Public Health. ➣ Thought leader authoring more than 250 scientific (and other) publications, including research in high-impact medical, public health, and industry journals; reports to Congress; published guidelines from the US Preventive Services Task Force; and thought pieces.
