For twenty-five years Ann has held national leadership positions in care management for large managed care organizations, serving as Director of Commercial Case Management for Humana, Inc., Louisville, Kentucky, and as National Director of Integrated Care Management for Aetna’s Medicaid division. During her career she has consulted on health programs for large self-insured clients such as Shell Mining, Ashland Oil (Marathon), Toyota USA, and various hospital systems and municipalities throughout the U.S. She founded one the first hospital bill auditing firms in the U.S. which was purchased by a major credit clearing house. In 1997, Ann helped launch Kentucky’s first Medicaid Managed Care initiative, serving as a Director of Medical Management and lobbyist for Passport Health Plan, Louisville, Kentucky. Ann was appointed by the governor of Kentucky to lead the Title V agency, Commission on Children with Special Health Care Needs, and subsequently as Deputy Secretary of Health, with oversight of Commonwealth’s Primary Care Case Management Program (KenPAC), and programs within the Department of Medicaid Services, CCSHCN, and Office of Aging. She chaired the legislative task force on Supports for Community Living and helped lead the development of a human services web-site, KYCares. Ann is a registered nurse with over 20 years of critical care practice. Ann is a certified case manager, and licensed nursing home administrator. She was a founding member and past president of the Kentucky Chapter of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses. She was an early advocate of case management competency and has presented on topics involving Adolescents Transitioning to Adult (Health) Care and Integrated Care Management.
