In the span of 25 months, my father-in-law, my husband, and my Dad, all died. Each had cancer. These life events in rapid succession heightened the sense that while grief is intensely personal, it is also a shared experience. We need moments of relief. Words from a hymn, a line of poetry, moments of grace – these are what we share. Know they come from the heart with hope of providing comfort and rest.

Responsible for directing activity, programming, and resources to help The Phi Beta Kappa Society's 293 chapters and 50 alumni associations build visibility on campuses and in communities. Work with volunteer chapter leaders to educate students about Phi Beta Kappa and build relationships on campus to help their chapters thrive. Assist association leaders with board management, member engagement, and organization communications. Collaborate with senior Phi Beta Kappa staff to ensure chapter and association activity aligns with Phi Beta Kappa's overall mission, objectives, and strategic plan.

Responsible for public affairs and outreach activity for the American Waterways Operators, a national trade association representing the tugboat, towboat and barge industry.

Led communications and external relations activity for 700-member trade association representing motor vehicle parts suppliers, the nation's largest manufacturing sector.

Planned and executed coalition activities for non-partisan group working to increase awareness of national infrastructure issues, including highway legislation.

Directed public awareness campaign aimed at increasing knowledge of and funding for waterways infrastructure, with emphasis on budgets and appropriations.

Managed all media and field activities during campaign for U.S. House of Representatives candidate.
