That legacy continues today as the Arboretum offers tours, classes and events, bringing a wide community together in appreciation of the astounding diversity of its growing collection.In March 2020, the long-awaited Wallace Garden at Boyce Thompson Arboretum will open to the public. At 13 acres and with 5,000 new plantings, the addition of the Wallace collection moves Boyce Thompson Arboretum into the top tier of botanical gardens around the world.My role as director of development is to provide leadership and management to advance the fundraising efforts of BTA. By building on our past and current success, engaging an active working board, prioritizing proven development practices, leveraging existing partnerships and cultivating new relationships, we will achieve our financial development and strategic goals.

Responsible for expanding the growth of annual giving; developing and implementing Annual Giving and Arizona Charitable Tax Credit strategies and plans; coaching and training campaign staff and volunteers for campaign success; leading donor stewardship and recognition.

The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library is a private, nonprofit membership organization which supports the Saint Paul Public Library through private fundraising, advocacy, cultural programming and public awareness activities. The Friends is recognized as a national model for providing unique and comprehensive support for the Saint Paul Public Library.The Friends created (in 1988) and has led the Minnesota Book Awards since 2006, connecting readers and writers in a state with a rich literary legacy (for both writing and publishing). Due in part to our statewide outreach expanding awareness of Minnesota's best books, promoting reading and writing, The Friends is the designated Minnesota Center for the Book—the state affiliate of the National Center for the Book at the Library of Congress—and is the only library support organization to be so honored. In addition, The Friends has a nonprofit company called Library Strategies Consulting Group, which works with libraries and library support organizations across the country and around the world, providing a broad range of the highest quality services and support, helping to expand their capacity to serve. During my tenure I led and directly managed strategic communications reaching local and national audiences. A creative and strategic thinker, I developed integrated marketing and communications plans using SMART metrics that were directly tied to, and helped achieve the objectives of the overall organizational strategic plan. I served as webmaster and brand champion, provided marketing for programs and special events, wrote and designed impact reports, and crafted advocacy position papers resulting in more than $42 million in increased public support for the library.A key member of the Development Team, my day-to-day responsibilities revolved around member acquisition and retention, donor communications and stewardship, corporate and community partnerships, managing online giving, and special events.

Montessori Center of Minnesota (MCM) is a national center for Montessori excellence and one of only 35 Montessori teacher-training institutions worldwide. For more than 40 years MCM has trained some of the best Montessori teachers and trainers in the world, and provided rigorous, in-depth and hands-on training to the very highest standards.Since 2008, MCM has resided in a state-of the-art, light-filled new facility. The 22,000 square foot building houses a unique and innovative training center for teachers, Cornerstone Montessori School and Cornerstone Montessori Elementary School, plus the one-of-a-kind International Montessori Museum where trainees and visitors can explore the roots of the Montessori movement.Programs are internationally recognized and are accredited by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), the organization founded by Dr. Maria Montessori. MCM is also accredited by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE) and licensed by the Minnesota Office of Higher Education. Today MCM attracts students from all over the world to attend programs, and the center’s executive director Molly O’Shaughnessy is a sought-after Montessori speaker on the global Montessori stage.As a trustee, I am responsible for defining MCM’s mission and providing overall leadership and strategic direction; actively setting policy and ensuring that MCM has adequate resources to carry out its mission; providing direct oversight and direction for the executive director and evaluating her performance.

The Saint Paul Almanac is an annual calendar and guide to take the curious urban adventurer through the year in Minnesota’s capital city. But more than that, the Almanac brings the diverse Saint Paul community together by supporting local literary arts through an experiment in democratic publishing. This mission is primarily accomplished through collaborative decision-making in publication activities, public readings, and mentorships. We provide new and established writers and artists with a welcoming annual forum for stories, poems, memories, photographs, and events, in celebration of the rich life of our city and our shared experiences of home.

I created system-wide and location-specific packages for Y-Partners (annual fund), membership marketing, daycare, aquatics, Youth in Government, day camps, overnight camps, family camps, and wilderness camps; served as staff liaison on development of new website; designed program brands; prepared multimedia presentations; edited and designed annual reports and internal newsletters.
