After nearly 32 years of service with State Farm, I am retiring effective December 1, 2018. My career began on February 23, 1987 in the Westlake, California as a Personal Lines Underwriter. In 1994, I moved to Bakersfield, and landed in Bloomington, IL in 1996. Every work experience I've had led to new opportunities. From a Personal Lines Underwriter, to a first line supervisor, a Systems BA, an Enterprise Internet Solutions Analyst, and lastly an IT Analyst, I worked on many efforts that laid the foundation to where State Farm is today. I've also worked on Automation projects, as well as GNC (Good Neighbor Care) project, the very first project that placed Renters and Auto quotes on StateFarm.com. This led to UAX (Unified Auto Experience), and finally the current modernization efforts. Reflecting back on the past 32 years, it wasn't just the work that will leave a lasting impression on me, but more so, it is the many lifelong friendships that have been formed. Throughout these years there have been many joyful times celebrating co-worker's marriages, births of and marriages of their children and births of their grandchildren. There have also been times supporting co-workers during illnesses, mourning the loss of co-workers, and family members of co-workers, as well as times of personal loss. The support and camaraderie during these times are memories that I will cherish forever. Future plans include obtaining my CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certification to allow for part-time work. Working with seniors and dementia patients is a passion that I look forward to pursuing. The CNA certification will also provide me with portable work to take anywhere, as I plan to travel the country in a teardrop trailer to follow other passions which include hiking, photography, writing, and being in nature. International travel and spending time with my multiple nieces and nephews is also in the picture for my upcoming retirement.
