Drug discovery and development has been always one of my main interests, in particular targeting neurodegenerative disease. I have studied nanotechnology and specialized in neuroscience during my master stage, I am motivated, independent and a team worker. I have interacted with many colleagues during my stage at Autonomous University of Barcelona and during my stage at UCB and learned with and from them. I am open to new learning experiences.I have two years of experience working in a scientific laboratory in which I have learned the following technics and abilities:- Biochemistry: BCA and Lowry for the evaluation of an adapted sinaptosomes obtention protocol; Dot Blot, Western Blot used to test and optimize antibody concentration; MTT to evaluate the viability of sinaptosomes.- High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), ion-exchange chromatography reversed-phase C18: detection of neurotransmitter and metabolites, determination of elution times.- In vivo: Rat and pig brain tissue dissection, preparation of synaptosomes and slices.- Flow cytometry, Cytomics FC500 Beckman Coulter: fluorescence (FITC) with Fluo4AM to evaluate the functionality of sinaptosomes, calibration with microspheres in forward scattering (FSC) to evaluate the size of sinaptosomes.- Histological section in cryostat: cryoprotection with formaldehyde and PB with sucrose, freezing in isopentane, obtention of rat and pig hypophysis and brain tissue slices, floating and on slides, by cryotomy in Leica CM3050S and SME Cryotome Thermo Electron Corporation.- Immunohistochemistry: with floating slices and on slides, Hoechst and one or two antibodies for neurotransmitters receptors detection. - Cell staining: Hematoxylin-Eosin to identify cell types in rat and pig hypophysis, Hematoxylin-Eosin over immunohistochemistry to identify cell types in previously studied rat and pig hypophysis.- Fluorescence and confocal microscopy, Epifluorescence Nikon ECLIPSE 90i and laser scanning confocal Zeiss LSM 700 with software Zen 2010: obtention of images, z-stacks and analysis with ImageJ.
