I am an avid lover of science, with a B.S in Physics & Applied Mathematics and current PhD Candidacy in Biomedical Engineering at Purdue. I specialize in studying neurodegenerative disorders (with a focus on Multiple Sclerosis) and have over 7 years of research experience with microscopy and various histological and experimental techniques relating to in vitro and in vivo systems. I also have over 4 years of experience as a teaching assistant and love teaching, writing, the environment, astronomy, music, and art. I am interesting in applying my PhD to combine my passions for STEM and writing working as a Regulatory or Clinical Specialist, Medical or Scientific Writer, or related field to help companies or institutions ethically develop and communicate their research. I have a projected graduation date for the Summer of 2025 and will be available to begin work starting in August of 2025.

Phd CandidatePurdue University Weldon School Of Biomedical Engineering Aug 2020 - PresentWest Lafayette, Indiana, United StatesI am conducting research focusing on the role of the neurotoxic aldehyde acrolein in neurodegenerative diseases, with a focus on Multiple Sclerosis. I regularly perform behavioral and surgical procedures on mice with Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis (EAE). I am additionally familiar with confocal microscopy and a variety of immunohistochemical staining, enzymatic assays, LCMS, wet lab, and other experimental techniques. -
Graduate Teaching Assistant For Introduction To MicrobiologyPurdue University Jan 2024 - May 2024West Lafayette, Indiana, United StatesThis course is intended for 3rd-year students in Biology. My responsibilities included teaching and leading laboratory sections for students introducing concepts of Microbiology research such as microscopy and wet lab procedures. Students were taught the isolation, growth, structure, function, heredity, identification, classification, and ecology of microoorganisms. With the help of a Teaching Intern, I cleaned and prepared the laboratory area before and after the course in addition to grading assessments. -
Graduate Teaching Assistant For Biology 1: Diversity, Ecology, And Behavior/Biology Resource SeminarPurdue University Aug 2023 - Dec 2023West Lafayette, Indiana, United StatesI was a TA for 2 linked courses intended for incoming freshman in Biology to aid their integration and adjustment to college while teaching basic biological concepts. I assisted lectures, provided office hours, and aided in the creation of exams to help students learn the basic principles of biology including ecology, genetics, population biology, evolution, and behavior. I also led two separate sections and gave lectures designed to help students adjust to university life and develop their academic and intellectual survival skills through the medium of the introductory Biology course. -
Graduate Teaching Assistant For Physiological Modeling In Human HealthPurdue University Jan 2023 - May 2023West Lafayette, Indiana, United StatesThis course is intended for 2nd-year students in Biomedical Engineering. Courses were discussion-based in the style of an internship, where my role was that of a supervisor to assist and answer student questions during class and office hours. Students worked in small teams to learn and apply engineering skills within the context of human disease, injury, and illness on extended problem sets which included mathematical modeling and problem solving. Problem sets included real-world engineering problems to introduce students to basic principles of physiology and medicine underlying practical problems in biomedical engineering. -
Graduate Teaching Assistant For Mathematical Models And Methods In PhysiologyPurdue University Aug 2022 - Dec 2022West Lafayette, Indiana, United StatesThis course is intended for 3rd-year students in Biomedical Engineering. Courses were discussion-based in the style of an internship, where my role was that of a supervisor to assist and answer student questions during class and office hours. Students worked in small teams to investigate physical mechanisms involving human anatomy and physiology on extended problem sets which included mathematical modeling and methods. Problem sets included real-world engineering problems to introduce advanced analytical tools and concepts relevant to biomedical engineering design. -
Undergraduate Research AssistantMedical University Of South Carolina, College Of Medicine May 2019 - Nov 2020Charleston, South Carolina AreaPerformed NASA-funded research on kindlin-3 expression in preosteoclast cells exposed to microgravity simulation. My research was aimed to determine the causes of disuse osteoporosis in astronauts in space & provide therapeutic targets for future treatments.
