I currently work as the Science Coordinator at the Sonoma County Office of Education focusing on NGSS, STEAM, and 21st Century learning. In this role I support the 40 school districts in Sonoma County with science related projects and learning. I also coordinate the Sonoma County STEAM Showcase, a county-wide teacher leader collaborative, and multiple student and teacher communities of practice. I am involved in the implementation of the Next Generation Science Standards at the state level. I am a regional lead for the statewide science curriculum committee, I am on the leadership team for the California NGSS Collaborative, and I am a lead member of the CAPMSE Statewide Science Leadership Coalition. Locally, statewide, and nationally I also works on how to integrate disciplines in the context of STEAM and pair maker education and other 21st Century learning tools with content to make their use in the classroom sustainable. I am a founding member of the Maker Educator Collective and have led national professional learning sessions with this group. I have presented on a variety of STEAM topics at numerous conferences and events in California and across the country. Prior to working at the county level, I taught high school earth science and biology in Sonoma County for ten years.
