I hold a PhD in Education from the University of Barcelona (Cum Laude), a Master’s degree in Counseling (concentration in Agency Counseling) from Rhode Island College (USA), a Postgraduate degree in Clinical Instruments for Evaluating Health from University of Turku (Finland) and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Ramon Llull University (Barcelona, Spain).For the past fourteen years, I have worked as a social worker at the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona (Spain). I provide counseling and individualised attention to children 8 to 17 years of age with mental health disorders and their families at the Day Hospital for Children and Adolescents in the Department of Psychiatry and Psychology for Children and Adolescents. I elaborate, review, and evaluate individualised treatment plans. In addition, I design and deliver educational workshops for improving social integration.I lead a line of research that seeks to promote personal recovery in mental health among children and adolescents in Catalonia and the rest of Spain. This includes validating tools for evaluating mental health outcomes from the perspective of users, their families, and health professionals; assessing personal recovery among children and adolescents; and implementing peer support projects in a local context. I have published in international scientific journals (Psychiatry Research, BMJ Open, and Medwave) and served as peer reviewer for the journal Neuropsychiatric Disease and Treatment and the International Journal of Methods in Psychiatric Research. Regarding teaching experience, I am the Director of the Postgraduate degree in early childhood, family and environment (URL), a lecturer in different Master’s programs, including Hospital Pedagogy (UB), the undergraduate program in Social Work and Social Education (UB and URL) as well as in the undergraduate program in Pedagogy (UB). My research work has been acknowledged through several awards and recognitions. I have received five research grants and sabbatical leaves from Hospital Clinic’s BarnaClínc, including funding for traveling abroad and for covering my salary. Through these grants I have visited and collaborated with professionals from WHO - Headquarters (Geneva, Swiss), the Program for Recovery and Community Health (PRCH) of the Department of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine (New Haven, CT, USA), the Nottingham Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (UK), the Institute of Mental Health at the University of Nottingham (UK), and the University of Turku (Finland).
