Energy Market Analyst
CurrentAs the Energy Market Analyst at RPU, I play a crucial role in optimizing wholesale power markets by analyzing data and monitoring electric, energy, and environmental trends. Under general direction, I conduct detailed modeling and analysis of RPU’s energy portfolio, forecast future energy needs, and prepare regular monitoring reports. My responsibilities include developing bidding strategies, performing financial analyses on energy commodity transactions, contributing to effective demand-side management, and executing strategies that maximize returns on the City’s investment in power generation assets while ensuring compliance with various regulatory agencies.In addition to quantitative analysis, my department monitors energy portfolio performance, identifies risks, and reports on areas of concern. I support contract negotiations and utilize after-the-fact analyses to enhance planning and strategy development. Staying informed about regulatory requirements from entities such as FERC, NERC, and MISO is essential to ensure compliance with external regulations and internal procedures.
