About Anna Batorsky
Anna is a recent graduate of the Biostatistics department at UNC Chapel Hill with a Doctorate of Public Health. Her dissertation focuses on developing and applying machine learning techniques and pragmatic study design to answer precision medicine questions and translate study findings to clinical practice. As a member of the Back Pain Consortium Research Program she co-led a working group to develop data standards based on CDISC SDTM, and SOPs for harmonization and data sharing, to facilitate integrated analysis of multiple back pain studies. Prior research experience includes collaborative data analysis in epigenomics, study design and data collection in animal models of obesity-induced type II diabetes, and development of novel 3D in vitro cell culture protocols for bone marrow derived stem cells. During her time in graduate school she performed statistical consulting work for longitudinal survey data analysis, and assumed a leadership role in the Biostatistics Student Association. Coursework outside of statistics includes courses in Health Economics, Health Policy and Advocacy, Financial Sustainability and Nutritional Epidemiology. Anna is an avid downhill skier and mountain biker and loves to travel. Her personal mission is to improve citizen science outreach initiatives and promote community based participatory research.
