I am currently a senior at Rutgers University, studying Women and Gender Studies, and expect to graduate this coming spring. Following my graduation, I plan to attend Georgian Court University's Master of Elementary Education program. Upon completion of this program, I will be certified to teach grades K-6 and special education. During my time at Rutgers University, I have had the privilege of attending some education classes as a part of my minor in Education as a Social Science, which has allowed me to understand the importance of representation within the classroom. I believe that my background in Women and Gender Studies will allow me to diversify the content I plan to use within the classroom. I am passionate about cultivating a classroom community where each child feels individually represented. I aspire to be a teacher that builds relationships with their students rather than just teaching them passively. I hope to inspire my students in the ways that teachers have inspired me. I hope that my students will enjoy learning the material just as much as I enjoy teaching it. I hope that all my students are aware that my classroom is a safe space. My future students will be able to express themselves and know that my classroom is a safe space to do so. I will create a caring environment so each individual feels that they belong.
