Fourmile Creek Undergraduate Research Project - September 2024 - Present- Collected soil samples, survey data, vegetation data, cross-sectional profiles, pebble count, and depths of consolidated layer along A4 stretch of Fourmile Creek, digested soil samples to get a measurement of phosphorus content- Used RiverMorph and Iowa River Restoration Toolbox to determine where phosphorus runoff is coming from, to determine extent of erosion, and to aid in upcoming Polk County restorationOnion Creek Erosion Pin Survey - November 2022 - April 2023- Traveled to various sites along 10-mile stretch of Onion Creek to observe changes in erosion along banks, measure and collect data on erosion pins in banks, rest old pins, and replace missing pins

- Inspected stability of limestone and sandstone rock slopes and karst topography at construction sites and inspected gravel pits and aggregate quarries for clay minerals and alteration minerals such as phyllite- Operated both cart and truck-mounted ground-penetrating radar and falling weight deflectometer and analyzed respective data- Observed drilling operations with DOT drill crew and worked on a study with University of Virginia to install frost detection sensors in Wisconsin highways

- Inspected the structural integrity of state-owned culverts using visual and physical examinations of erosion, corrosion, freeze-thaw, and biological damage and reported any critical findings- Collected measurements of waterways under state-owned bridges to formulate streambed profiles used for determining if erosion was threatening the integrity of the bridge- Interpret inspection data, GIS information, mapping technology, and soil collection data to quantify the effects of scour and erosion damage on state-owned bridges
