I was the Manager of Math Programs for Seattle Public Schools. Secondary Mathematics Curriculum Specialist for Seattle Public Schools. In this work I am guiding and supporting the transition to the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics by facilitating professional development for SPS teachers, aligning textual materials to the Common Core State Standards, and planning with and observing teachers piloting units of Common Core mathematics in several SPS classroomsAfter sixteen years in middle and high school mathematics classrooms, I served as Instructional Math Coach for Seattle Public Schools. During these years I worked closely with a number of Seattle math teachers, math teams, and principals at Seattle secondary schools to increase rigor in classrooms, engage all students, align teaching to state standards, assess student growth, and support new teachers through “Initial Use” classes.I hold degrees in mathematics and mathematics education from Auburn University, Troy University and Emory University.
