I run the monitored dosage system area of our business which caters for care homes and clients who live in their own homes. I have a close working relationship with the homes concerned and also work hard to create a good working relationship with local GP surgeries. I also work within two doctors practices to help them with medicines management issues.

I have recently acquired the role of general manager which includes financial decision making. I am also responsible for maintaining standards within the pharmacy and completing any necessary paperwork for audits, surveys and any new schemes that we develop as a pharmacy. We have introduced some new initiatives which I am overseeing and reviewing when needed. Stock maintenance and ordering is also a large part of my role as it's more important than ever to have control of all stock levels.

I was employed by the group of surgeries in the Cleethorpes area for helping control and monitor medicines usage, and give prescribing advice where appropriate. This included reviewing patients on (at the time) the more expensive “statin” groups of drugs, and if appropriate switching them to lower cost versions but ensuring afterwards that they had no ill effects. I also kept the surgeries up to date on current medication shortages and was able to advise on the best course of action in the short term to ensure patients still received their medication promptly. I helped implement (before the NHS changed the regulations) appropriate prescribing of gluten free products, to ensure patients received basic breads and mixes, but discontinued items such as biscuits and cracker-breads to help control the surgeries prescribing budgets, but ensuring patients received basic products to help in their daily lives.
