Showing our vulnerability to others⭐️ helps us build fulfilling relationships⭐️ increases creativity and innovation ⭐️ fosters resilience and adaptability⭐️ boosts efficiency and productivity ⭐️ and enriches our (work) lives in many other ways. Given all the benefits, we’d be fools not to go for it, right? Then why would so many of us rather jump into a pool of jellyfish than admit to a mistake, ask for help, or share that we are struggling? That‘s because we fear that showing vulnerability will lead to: ⛔️ being seen as weak or incompetent⛔️ feeling rejected⛔️ losing power or control. But are these fears justified? After 12+ years as a researcher, here‘s what I learned:1) Most of the time, our fears lie to us: Other people perceive our vulnerability in a much more positive light than we do. 2) It is possible to learn to be authentic and vulnerable with people while feeling safe, competent, and strong.After publication in scientific journals, my findings have been featured in:⭐️ various global outlets, such as “The Atlantic” or “The New York Times”⭐️ bestselling books, including “No Rules Rules: Netflix and the Culture of Reinvention”Through conducting research and sharing my findings with you my goal is to help people and organizations to create a mindset and a culture of safe vulnerability.
