Microbiology/Immunology PhD program: Rochford Lab. PhD studies focused on a unique intersection of virology, immunology, and parasitology: the pathogenesis of Burkitt lymphoma, a pediatric cancer, following coinfection of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and Plasmodium falciparum malaria. Use of a wide variety of molecular biology techniques to identify mechanisms and epidemiology of EBV reactivation in malaria holoendemic areas.-Molecular Pathogenesis of Infectious Diseases (MPID) T32 recipient 2021-2022; included planning an annual symposium-Other parts of PhD training included: participation in seminars, journal clubs, outreach and scientific communication events, a rigorous course curriculum focused on molecular biology, microbiology, immunology, cancer biology, writing and ethics.

Nagel Lab: Neurovirology. Conducted experimental projects focused on the molecular pathogenesis of Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV) using primary human cells-Assisted in a multitude of projects that resulted in numerous publications, and was responsible for assistance with lab management, grant writing, and mentoring of students.
