As the Head of Campus at one of the most unique educational institutions in the coutnry, I am responsible for running the day to day at Katherine High School. I am primarily involved in educational leadership and the overall management of all school staff as well as contributing to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive school environment and learning culture. I contribute to the development and implementation of school objectives, planning, establishment and the management and further development of personnel, finance,technology, assets, facilities and resources of the school to ensure their optimum use. I play a key role in representing the school in the broader Katherine community and work with parents.guardians, community and local business. In addition, I have a duty of care to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all our students at KHS.

My highly developed communication skills have allowed me to assist students in both the Wellbeing and Career Centres while working on positive educational strategies with colleagues. My ethos has always been based on the premise that positive relationships with the students are the basis for good classroom management. I have enjoyed passing this on to teachers who have had difficulties when working with students. Examples of this involve working with teachers, students and parents in an effort to move all groups involved towards a positive outcome. I have lead an initiative to ulitise attendance programs to map student referrals and to assist in the handover process between sub-schools. I have worked closely with the Wellbeing and Principal Teams to develop this process and provided professional development sessions for all Community Coordinators.

In my role as a classroom teacher I have constantly looked for strategies to improve the way I deliver curriculum and thus improve student learning. I continually work closely with the members in my faculties and have mentored a number of teachers in training as well as one graduate teacher in India. I have focussed on student engagement and, as Leader of a Performance and Development group, have encouraged and supported colleagues to do the same. This has involved delivering curriculum in a number of different ways in order to cater for different learning styles and thus engage all students in the class, particular within EAL/D classes. Group work, independent learning and modelling as well as one on one teaching have proven useful in engaging students in my areas of study.
