As the Senior Director of Engineered Materials Manufacturing Services, I drive business-critical initiatives, programs, and projects that optimize manufacturing effectiveness. My role as a cross-functional integrator has been pivotal in leading intricate projects, such as SAP integration, footprint optimization, organizational realignment, and productivity capture while incorporating a newly acquired business. I offered strategic leadership and hands-on support to over 35 manufacturing sites worldwide by guiding engineering and special projects groups of 40 global technical experts. By leveraging critical skills, I managed an annual capital portfolio of up to $200m, ensuring innovation and operational excellence. This strategic oversight increased operational efficiency and drove significant financial gains, including $50M in annual savings from a robust productivity program and >$75M in savings via a successful footprint consolidation project. These initiatives optimized the asset base and simplified regional supply chains.

In my role as the Improvement & Development Director at Celanese, I was responsible for the oversight of the seamless operation of a world-scale chemical site's infrastructure, such as roads, grounds, and facilities services. My focus was to upgrade and transform the facility improving the overall availability of services and providing a safer and more efficient working environment.Directing a dedicated project group of over 60 resources, I deployed strategic initiatives, productivity, projects, and process improvements by administering over $60 million in annual capital investments at the Celanese Clear Lake manufacturing plant. As the Site Productivity Champion and Digitization & Modernization Program Manager, I presented state-of-the-art digital technologies that transformed site efficiency, safety, and communication systems. These changes improved overall operations and positioned the site as a leader in embracing modern technological enhancements.

Serving as the Project Engineering Leader for a global-scale chemical plant, I played a pivotal part in enhancing operational performance by deploying innovative strategies. Managing a $60M+ annual capital budget, I guided a team of 100+ direct and contract employees in aligning each project with our strategic goals. By executing modern forecasting systems, I significantly reduced overall project cycle time. I also created specialized roles in project controls, safety, engineering, quality, and construction management, which ultimately elevated our project performance and met our objectives.One of my most prominent achievements was establishing and executing a robust, long-term investment plan to optimize essential systems, including electrical power distribution, roads, buildings, emergency response, IT, maintenance, and quality control labs. Additionally, I contributed to formulating and rolling out 3 annual capital project plans across 2 distinct business lines, while supervising 150+ active projects. I was also instrumental in supporting 2 major unit turnarounds yearly, with capital projects valued between $3M and $5M, enhancing unit performance and reliability.

As the Global Capital Portfolio Manager, I managed a vast and complex capital portfolio between $200M to $500M annually across 6 business lines and over 25 manufacturing locations globally. My role required a deep expertise of financial metrics and also a strategic vision to support these investments with Celanese's overarching corporate objectives. I established strategic relationships with site management and project engineering leaders across North America, South America, Asia, and Europe, which drove tangible improvements along with both strategic & tactical outcomes across the manufacturing network.Analyzing the need for better transparency and organizational alignment, I served as a global business process owner and gatekeeper for CAPEX, where I streamlined workflows and conducted process enhancement training. My initiatives resulted in the formulation of a five-year plan from manufacturing sites to R&D and major projects to enable better long-term planning and investment decisions. Moreover, I created a monthly cost reporting tool that changed the site performance monitoring, ensuring real-time cash flow decisions and justifying capital investments through a restructured corporate approval process for projects surpassing $1M. This modern approach maximized financial performance and reinforced Celanese's competitive edge in the global market.

As the Turnaround Capital Manager, I was assigned the great responsibility of co-directing one of the most complex and significant projects in Celanese’s history—a site-wide, multi-unit chemical plant turnaround with an investment surpassing $100M. The scale and intricacy of the turnaround needed smooth coordination of infrastructure interdependencies in the shutdown, execution, commissioning, and start-up phases. By collaborating with site partners, I maintained all processes in alignment with the operational requirements of the plant. Identifying the potential risks early on, I was selected a year before the scheduled turnaround to develop a comprehensive readiness plan. This proactive strategy included supervising both capital and operations teams, through all phases of the event. The project was completed on time and secured cost and schedule performance within the top 1% of industry standards as evaluated by independent experts from AP-Networks. This turnaround established a new benchmark for excellence within Celanese.

During my time in the Engineering Directorate at NASA's Johnson Space Center, I was accountable for providing critical hardware that ensured the safety of the astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS). My role required a blend of technical knowledge and project management to design and build environmental systems deployed on the ISS. One of my key achievements was directing the Total Organic Carbon Analyzer (TOCA), a four-year project, that provided the ISS's capability to analyze organic carbon levels in the potable water systems — this served as a required water system control to ensure the health and safety of the astronauts. This project required significant technology development, planning, coordination, and implementation, from the R&D through to the final deployment. Additionally, I oversaw the creation and deployment of a critical safety device, New Fine Water Mist Portable Fire Extinguisher, to align with the stringent safety standards of the space station. My efforts ensured the continued success of the ISS as well as marked NASA's dedication to improving Human Space Flight in support of science & exploration.
