Facilitated programming in the Juvenile Detention Facility and assisted with office administrative tasks to promote restorative justice practices among San Luis Obispo juveniles and adults

Served as a research intern in a National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU), exploring the scope and consequences of hate crime victimization of Muslims in the South. I conducted research via journal databases on the scope and consequences of Islamophobia in the South and interviewed Muslim community leaders about their experiences of and perspectives on Islamophobia. I also wrote annotated bibliographies, literature reviews, and reports describing research process and findings.

Worked with social justice organizations to positively impact racial justice issues nationwide by creating social media educational material as well as assisting with, planning, and executing events. As an intern, I planned and facilitated an educational workshop about “defunding the police” and co-led a reading/discussion series about police abolition.
