I am a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) and Changi General Hospital as well as a Clinical Associate Professor at Duke NUS, specialising in Medical Retina and Visual Rehabilitation. My areas of expertise include age-related macular degeneration, ocular imaging, low vision, visual rehabilitation, ageing, digital technology and global ophthalmology. As a master clinician, I was awarded the Singhealth Quality Service “STAR” award in 2021 and the Eye and Vision Health “Distinguished Service Award" in 2022.I trained in medicine at the University of Melbourne, conducted stem cell research at Imperial College London, UK and undertook sub-specialty fellowships in ocular imaging at Universitat AugenKlinik in Bonn, Germany and Vitreous Retina Macula in New York, USA. My research portfolio includes 80 peer reviewed articles, 4 editorials and 5 book chapters in leading ophthalmology and medical journals. In 2019, I was awarded the Singhealth “Publish” Award for one of my high impact publications. I have received multiple competitive and training grants with a combined worth of over SGD$1 million. In addition to my clinical work, I serve as Clinical Director for Ocular Imaging and the Retinal Centre@DMC and Clinical Advisor of the Low Vision Service . I concurrently serve as the Treasurer of the Singapore Society of Ophthalmology and was Vice-President and Executive Committee Member of Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped (from 2019-2022). My commercial involvement includes being a key opinion leader and part of advisory boards for multiple diagnostic and pharmaceutical companies.
