With over 13 years of experience as a co-founder and executive director of The 5 Gyres Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to understanding and communicating the issue of plastic pollution in the world's oceans, I have developed a strong passion and expertise for sustainability, environmental justice, and intersectional movements. In 2020, my husband and I also co-founded Leap Lab, an emerging network of science based sustainability centers modeling self-reliance, to build thriving communities. As a co-founder, I leverage my skills in social networking, strategic communications, and community development to engage with diverse stakeholders, partners, and audiences, and to create impactful and innovative solutions for the planet and the people. I am motivated by the vision of a more sustainable, equitable, and resilient future for all.
