About Anna Cunningham
I am a senior journalist with 20 years experience in broadcasting. For the first 10 years of my career, I was BBC staff, based in the UK, working as a reporter, newsreader, producer, editor.In 2009 I went freelance, relocating overseas as a freelance correspondent for multiple international broadcasters and other media (France 24, CBC, ABC, NPR, AFP TV, RTE, The Economist, Undark magazine and others). I was based in Mumbai, India (2009-2012), Paris (2012-2014), Lagos, Nigeria (2014-2019). I reported on a wide range of stories, from presidential elections, to extensive reporting on terrorism (Boko Haram), covering the economy and social issues to breaking news stories as well as longer form investigations. I have won several awards for my work on investigating the dangers of air pollution in Nigeria, including the George Polk award for environmental reporting. I am now based in London.
