First and foremost, I love inspiring children to get excited about learning and to care for others! I am especially passionate about small group reading instruction and science. In my spare time, I like to scroll through Pinterest looking for new ways to improve my classroom! Previous training in PBIS and Envoy have taught me to constantly reflect and to try new techniques. I have a deep interest in child psychology and how my actions as their teacher have an impact on my students. To put it mildly, my career experience is interesting... I began as a substitute teacher in order to improve my classroom management skills. It certainly taught me to be flexible and confident! Then I accepted a position as the specialist teacher at STEP Academy teaching art, gym, and STEM. That year was definitely a whirlwind of finding lesson plans and prepping! It was also the year I gained the ability to put a name to every smiling face. Next, I settled into a 3rd grade position at Skyline Academy to learn the joys of having your own classroom and developing deeper relationships with the students. Together with the other staff I built up a brand new school and have settled into my own style of teaching. Like every other teacher, I enjoy the joys and challenges that the classroom brings. I will continue to diligently support every child that comes through my door with the hope that I can make the difference in their lives.
