SMARTmarketing co. is a marketing and advertising company dedicated to helping local businesses grow and expand their client base. During my summer with SMARTmarketing, I worked closely with the art director, as well as, the President of the company to learn the various sides of the business. I attended sales meetings and eventually led my own pitch meeting with a client for our print mailing booklet, Town Shopper. I oversaw the creation of the ad and communication with the client. I developed 2 separate email campaigns of 12 emails each on Mailchimp to promote our products and remind clients of upcoming deadlines, by first running an A-B test on which format provided the best results and then implementing that format for consistency. I also managed the Facebook and Instagram accounts, curated content on Canva as well as ran successful giveaways. Additionally, I was able to familiarize myself with the creation and management of programmatic and paid social ad metrics to create new ads and suggest tactic changes.

The Career and Student Success Center is where OU's College of Business students can come and get 1:1 help from Academic Advisors and Peer Coaches. The Center aims to boost confidence in internship searches, full-time job offers, and professional development. The staff here has helped me ensure that I have a well-rounded resume, strong LinkedIn, and am interview reading. This job has let me do that for other students as well!As a Peer Coach, I get to be help students and be a resource to them when it comes to needing help scheduling classes, preparing for an interview, or rewriting their resume. I get to help students draft 4-year plans, explore fields, and feel prepared for the working world, not only as a Peer Coach but also by being a Teaching Assistant for BA 1000/2000.

I moved into this role after working as a banquet server with Leo's for many years. In this role, I coordinate with the kitchen staff, hostesses, and use a POS system to ensure customer satisfaction. I am often interacting with a wide variety of people and am thus gaining more confidence in my communication skills. I am learning how to better understand customers and how to fulfill their wants and needs.

In this role, I learned to coordinate with a team and outside professionals, such as event planners and florists, to set up events according to the customer's liking. I was often the first person customers interact with and am their first impression of the restaurant. In this position, I learned how to manage multiple tasks and attend to multiple needs at once. Overall, in this role I was able to figure out how to problem solve for customers and ensured that all parties involved got what they needed. I also appreciate the opportunity given to me from this experience to grow and move into a new position.
