At my internship, I researched, created, and brainstormed how to effectively market our non-profit to donors and how best to highlight and showcase all the incredible life-changing work CWM does.

At PCP, I gained hands-on experience dealing with pediatric patients. My skill set expanded to include learning how to:-Chart child growth and percentiles-Form quick and important rapport with the parent and patient (smiling, listening)-Measuring vitals (height, weight, blood pressure, temperature, head circumference)-Testing patients vision and hearing-Strep throat swab and COVID tests-Administer albuterol breathing treatment-UA-Filing signed charts-Prepping charts for patients later that week-Speaking with Representatives of Pharmaceutical/vaccine companiesAs a brand new nursing student, my experience at PCP was truly invaluable. I learned somuch about how an office functions smoothly, how to have professional-patient interactions,what quality patient-centered care looks like, and admirable qualities a nurse should emulate. I learnedto adapt quickly, listen to the needs/desires of the patients and their families, work efficiently andcalmly, and to be a team player.

While working a paid internship at Dr. S. Joseph Pausa's office of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, I learned and utilized new skills necessary for success in the healthcare field and private practice. An important observation I made is that the world of surgery allows for no mistakes and requires the utmost precision, adherence to protocols, and attention to urgent and microscopic details. At my internship, I believe that I performed my duties precisely and efficiently. My duties consisted primarily of: -Pre and post-operative care of patients.-Preparation of surgery rooms, removal of the biohazardous materials, and clean up after surgery.-Assisting Dr. Pausa and his assistants during the operations.-Keeping records of the anesthesia administered during surgery.-Anticipating the needs of Dr. Pausa and his staff.-Assisting the Anesthesia assistants with their post-operative instructions.-Cleaning up, stocking, and sterilizing instruments.

I began my position at one of the busiest CFA's in the state in my sophomore year of high school and remained a part of the core team for the next 3 years of high school. I balanced extracurriculars, AP's, and 36 hour work weeks. Throughout my time there I learned accountability, responsibility, flexibility, and customer service skills that will last me a life time. I trained new employees on positions involving dealing with customers directly and resolving service issues.
