As an intern in the GIS team, I provided support to different projects related to the conservation of the Aegean Sea. My role consisted of fieldwork (kayak surveys and drone monitoring) and office work, offering experience in a range of data collection methods as well as exposure to a scope of GIS platforms and mapping techniques. I was involved in developing high-quality maps to support effective conservation and inform national and EU authorities on the results of research findings.

As a Strategic Projects Intern, I worked on large-scale initiatives delivering aspects of the University Strategy, including the Curriculum Transformation Programme. My role involved liaising with staff and students from across the university, and analysing both quantitative and qualitative data to compile reports and other outputs.I particularly enjoyed learning more about the role of Higher Education institutions in the climate crisis, considering how Education for Sustainable Development could be more effectively embedded across the curriculum.
