Growing up, my mother worked as a caregiver at a group home for children with developmental disabilities. The group home was my second home and I spent a lot of time there playing with the other children. I never them as different from, even though most of them were on the severe end of the autism spectrum. I always knew that I wanted to work with kids with autism when I grew up, I just didn't know in what respect. I started out following in my mother's footsteps, working at the same group home as a caregiver.
