Responsibilities include: -- Maintaining freight rates and pricing by keeping system rates up to date per contracts with carriers, and formatting and uploading rates into SAP system-- Providing rates to internal departments for customer billing and customer contract negotiation purposes-- Monitoring the unrated shipments that appear on a daily report by inputting rates in SAP and addressing the underlying cause by communicating with freight carriers in order to procure rates for new lanes or by addressing issues with internal departments to correct mistakes made in SAP that prevent efficient department performance-- Auditing over-the-road and ocean carrier freight invoices and communicating with carriers and internal departments to resolve billing issues or verify accessorial charges-- Authorizing payment of freight invoices and review carrier billing statements to keep accounts up to date, working with carriers to resolve issues that negatively affect payment processing time-- Logging spot rated loads, including last minute bookings with short lead time, for Logistics team to use in tracking freight spend and savings against baseline rates-- Addressing customer complaints against freight carriers by investigating service failures with carriers and determining plans of action to prevent these issues going forward-- Filing damage claims with freight carriers when necessary and maintaining a log of filed claims and damage costs to send to internal departments for their records-- Running weekly and monthly reports with data extracted from SAP or Microsoft Access databases to distribute to internal departments-- Coordinating with Logistics Analysts to assist on various time sensitive projects and provide backup on day-to-day tasks-- Maintaining virtual and physical filing systems
