First phase of this role: Transformation team (including external mining and process change experts) engaged to appraise the operations and exact changes mine-by-mine. Second phase of this role: Company representative with Boston Consulting Group for an organisational re-design.

- Development of an annual planning process from mine-level through to corporate- Development of consistent risk-oriented reporting and improvement of KPIs with Ernst and Young- Facilitated interaction between planning engineers, managers and management accountants to identify disconnects between the parties – resulting in corrected schedules and yield forecasts, so that an impending key product deficit was identified prior to it impacting business- Identified the source of significant ($M) errors in capital reforecasting due to understanding of interaction of two capital forecasting tools: Oracle and IBM Cognos- Project Director of a lignite mine expansion feasibility study, identified high risk areas for focus in order to reduce expenditure on other aspects

Management of a Project Management Office, which administered all capital expenditure and studies including new mining developments and infrastructure.- Integrated this newly established office into the wider business by: frequent site visits to assist project teams and mine management with adoption of the more rigorous processes; and transparent, consistent reporting to the executive on the portfolio’s performance.- Identified and addressed projects with expenditure over budget, which included reconciling accounting information with documented approvals.- Developed a portfolio of reports in Oracle (financial database) for project managers.

Financial analysis, research and reporting: Investigated and assessed aspects of the solid waste and electricity industries, and various companies and technical processes.

Compiled estimates for variations of cost and time for the Goro Nickel Project (USD2B). Attended and, where necessary, facilitated the engineering trend meetings with the client.
