Acciona Infrastructure is the Australian & NZ subsidiary of the Spanish company, Acciona Infraestructuras, based in Madrid. Whilst at Acciona Infrastructure, I was responsible for oversight and management of all legal aspects of bids, procurement and delivery of large infrastructure PPP and Alliance projects in Australia, NZ & South East Asia, including Melbourne Metro, Sydney Metro, Toowoomba Second Range Crossing, Brisbane Airport, Legacy Way Tunnel & Sydney Light Rail (SLR). I was responsible for managing the corporate legal team and project legal teams across Australia & NZ and worked very closely with the SLR legal team, comprised of approximately 10 lawyers (combination of in-house lawyers & secondees).I was actively involved in intensive negotiations with TfNSW and consortium representatives regarding substantial technical, commercial and legal issues on SLR and developed key legal & commercial strategies for the ongoing delivery of the project from a D&C perspective, many of which are currently being deployed.As Company Secretary of the Acciona entities and as Director of Acciona Geotech, I was also responsible for all aspects of Corporate Governance, including policy development & training at the corporate and project level. I also co-ordinated key legal aspects of the due diligence and ultimate acquisition of Geotech Group by Acciona.I particularly enjoyed mentoring and enabling team members and building a culture of achievement and value in what were often very complex, fast-paced and challenging circumstances.

Keolis Downer operates Yarra Trams, Gold Coast Light Rail and a number of bus companies across Australia and is an incorporated JV between Downer Group & Keolis, a subsidiary of SNCF, France.I was ultimately responsible for bids and delivery of large PPP infrastructure projects, focussing on O&M. Specifically, I was actively involved in the Sydney Light Rail bid as well as Canberra Light Rail and the re-franchising of heavy rail operations in Wellington, NZ. As Company Secretary, I was responsible for all Corporate Governance matters, including developing audit & risk policies.With external legal & legal team in Paris I was responsible for the legal due diligence and acquisition of ATE group of bus companies. I particularly enjoyed mentoring other members of legal team and supervising as required.

In parallel with my role as Senior Legal Counsel, I also took on the role of Sole Legal Counsel for Downer EDI Works (now part of Downer Infrastructure) and Sole Legal Counsel for CPG Australia & NZ (now Spiire) from time to time. As Senior Legal Counsel, I was primarily responsible for drafting, amending, negotiating, managing and advising on wide range of contentious and non-contentious infrastructure and other commercial matters for Downer, including major road, rail & bridge projects, many o which were procured by the Victorian, NSW & Qld state governments. I was directly involved in the divestment of a number of Downer entities in South East Asia, mentored junior lawyers, including supervision for College of Law graduate through to admission and provided training at both the project and corporate level and developed precedent contracts and guides. After over 5 years at Downer I moved into the role of Head of Legal, Keolis Downer (see entry above).

Moved with Ashurst Construction team to the Property & Projects team at Middletons. Advised on a range of contentious and non-contentious infrastructure matters. Whilst at Middletons I enjoyed a 3 month secondment to Coles Group, Melbourne, where I developed a strong interest in working in-house.
